i'm gonna rip off another short blog 'cause it's summer and i need to share this.
the video below discusses how inefficient of a runner chris solinksy is, while still holding the american record at 26:59 for 10km. as i seem to have some of the same problems (tight hips and shoulders), i am going to go stretch those buggers for a solid half hour every day and see where that gets me! they say that solinksy must have a V02 of about 90 to compete the way he does. well guess what. i've been measured with a V02 of 92 and i don't run nearly as fast as this guy! i must be really tight and/or severely undertrained! another theory to bring to coach tomorrow..
enjoy!

efficiency not necessarily about angles? great post.
Might want to check that calibration there.. sorry to burst your bubble...
"Five time Tour de France winner Miguel Indurain is reported to have had a VO2 max of 88.0 at his peak [1], while cross-country skier Bjørn Dæhlie measured at an astounding 96 ml/kg/min."
is this post ironic?
Dude... awesome video. Some great lessons!
Please click on CT's comment. Ian, do not increase your stride length, just run more. Increase your muscle memory to increase your efficiency. This is bogus.
i understand that the guy runs a business based on removing microfiber buildup. i also understand that everyone has a stride rate and length that is most efficient for them. but i think we could all gain from better flexibility in the hips.
and i thought this video was worth considering because my V02 is (high) economy is (low) and my range of motion is also (low)
okay, i watched it again. it is pretty bad. shouldn't have rushed to post it.
What you want to do is get your hips to bend like that old man at about 2;20 of the video. That's some serious flexibility!
yoga
Haters be hatin'.
Bottom line really is that it is never a bad idea to be flexible lol! Stretch! ;)
