she saw me in the back room lifting lots of stuff

i'd never had that much trouble sitting down. i picked the clunky metal chair up in an attempt to avoid the unpleasant sound that comes from scraping the legs across the floor. but all the pushups from the day before had me shaking and i couldn't control the placement of the chair when i slammed it back down on the ground a few feet back from the table. if my plan was to not make such a scene, i probably should've just dragged it. i planted each hand on the shoulders of my friends seated on both sides of my dinner plate. i slowly lowered myself down and grimaced as soon as i was forced to squat 2 degrees past upright. when the drama queen finally landed in her throne, she smiled. "if i feel like this every day this fall i don't know if i'll be much use to myself or anyone else."

training camp was what i like to call a "temporary success". coming back from a week off i put in my biggest run week ever. it was still only half of nixon's mileage the week prior to camp, but i'm thrilled to still be standing after the grind up at golden lake. fueling the upcoming week with free food from orientation week and the milk that alexander left in the fridge before he left for beijing.

enjoy the changing of the leaves, friends.
