november 7th. the gryphons head to the Canadian University XC Championships this weekend. an incredibly talented and hardworking team across the board. on a personal level, i made a few mistakes this fall that cost me dear fitness and a spot on this squad when it came time to put 7 guys on the line. such a short season that there is very little room for error when it comes to staying healthy and injury free. i look to head back to the drawing board and help this team out next year. hopefully with my youngest brother by my side. no pressure buddy.
i'll be road tripping to quebec with some fellas this weekend to support the team and ideally make the squad run faster by yelling in a highly encouraging manner. apparently we have girls coming with us, too. i mean, this is something i can definitely get over, but i was really hoping for a bro-road (brode?) trip with beef jerky, loud tunes, and few pee breaks unless it also involves hopping out of the car to spontaneously fish for trout in a small ravine or to pick up a stray dog and bring him along with us so he can stick his nose out the window and feel the wind against his face. where is the dog gonna sit if there's a girl in the car? i'm not sexist, i'm just a bro. bros need bro time. i'd love to lie to you all and say that we'd also be looking to camp out on the course the night before, but we'll be staying in a best western because our trip organizer matthew isn't nearly as hard as i thought he was. his sister is so much harder. she should come instead. matt, you're cut. rookie girls, you better be hard. yeah, ciara, i'm looking at you. no stuffed animals this weekend. unless the gorilla and penguin have somehow learned how to speak french and start a bonfire with few resources, they will be staying home where they are safest.
stay tuned for video updates from the weekend and stories from a vagabond taking cheap bus trips to montreal to see his brothers and a band, toronto to get certified water smart and nyc for the ultimate tourist experience.
